Banshee W'Me 01:25
On the ground, fever attainted Shot a three-legged owl Suckin' sap through broken vow Got two thousand spirits to feed All I's ever needed was havin' a banshee w'me, ah-haw Crawlin' through the old withered oil Saw her fire eat up all 'thin a mile Ah-ha-haw Just one dead minute, oh Banshee w'me Banshee w'me, ha An' when the light dies in a foul night An' peat diggin' is all that ya seek 'thin the swamp, down out in bitter night Will the gator spirits enlight a lil' banshee fer me, aw-haw? Banshee fer me A lil banshee fer me, ha-ah A lil banshee fer me A lil banshee fer me Gimme treatin' and a body bold Til the moon turns all'em buds bloody now Don't really need no money or pean Til the frogs done singin', be my banshee fer me Fraid'a death ah, fraid'a death, ah That ain't me, naw Pull me outta da mud, I got my banshee w' me My buzzin' lil' banshee never leavin' me Ah-haww...

Fortune-tellin maid on the hallowed mound Cough blood, readin' signs outta dead fish's mouths She'll taint yer bones and shake 'em to the core Cut your blains and she'll suck 'em even more I gets me more, you bleed, she said, the easy way out Couldn't you do as you'ere told? Think she's hidden it here? 'Stead of her crystal ball You're meetin' perdition at dawn, oh! Boozin', breathin' fire and shootin' out lights Pullin' them thorns and dried to the bone She'll not slacken the girth It eats right through the bone Her crystal ball 'll bring ya down Tear ya apart without a frown Just when you thought you had her, oh You'll be meetin' perdition at dawn, yeah Fortune-eatin' maid on the hallowed mound Suckin' blood, readin' signs outta dead fish's mouths She'll taint yer bones and shake 'em to the core Now you're her very own She keeps you down, no use to moan Just when you thought you had it all You were meetin' perdition at dawn And cicades sing their song Bout her crystal ball Still, cicades sing their song Bout your perdition at dawn Bout your perdition at dawn And cicades sing their song Bout your perdition at dawn Still, cicades sing their song Bout your perdition at dawn

Oh, market day Golden saneness, oh Cajun recipe Was a debt so deadly Not one haunted owl could redeem And ya needed to hold Good ol' heart's own They know... and they sing Ashen plumes, sweated in watery ale Some broiled bees Makes the perfect brew now Perfect and delicate, aw Throw in some coffee dregs Pour in some Chat de Nuit Some fraud's intestines Still alive not dead, nah Ooohhh, mix in earwax for the flavor Give Black Arum to the stock And add some seasoning... Ahaw, stir up well! You look afraid and you're acting As if you didn't know what I've been cookin', oh Smellin' all naughty and hot This is some thunderin' brew, ah You're lookin' at me As if you didn't know what I've been cookin', oh Awe, so shocked? Out at night In the city of the dead Beyond the jungle of Lethe Oh, what ya thought to find Ya couldn't even pronounce it right So you went down into the grotto Egeria's sphere Dived through tunnels long forgotten Deep down into the forge Trolls, goblins, gremlins, amazons Dwarves and hunchbacks Got 'em on your trail Oh, what you did there... Sealed your fate when your stole her precious Ale, ah So she sent her hounds?! Is that right? Oh, and you? And you?! What did you do?! You... Keep-a-whinin' Stop whinin', we'll get this settled! Vamps and werewolves, scorpions, djinns and cannibals Damn them beyond the sundown And the void so dim 'n' unknown, yeah Will you stop whinin'!? Will you stop whinin' already!? C'mon, we'll get this settled! You'll get even, promise! I'll help ya! Rope yourself in while I tie the nodes And hold yer scarab tight A bit'a glue, just to make sure They can't rip out your soul Oh, them demons are greedy-eyed Hurry up, eat 'em diamonds Drink up all their sacred wine Oooh yeah, gotta pay your debt Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-haw-hah Hey-oh, uh-hahhh- Look-a-ya! Typhon's robot hornets made me leave my home Down by the silver pond my city lies in ruins Finally made 'em go away as the sky... As the sky turned green Out of the dark we shall rise That's what the shaman's been tellin' me Mhh... With six buckets of rum I started foreseein' things And so I walked the earth And so I walked the earth And so I walked the earth Forever gone, forever gone Forever gone, forever gone Scorched earth, scorched earth Breathin' sand Scorched earth, scorched earth Breathin' sand And so I walked the earth Forever gone Scorched earth, scorched earth Breathin' sand Forever gone, forever gone Scorched earth Aether bound, Aether bound Aether bound...

Breathin' sand Breathin' sand Breathin' sand Turn it all To golden ash To dust and ghost Acid heart Breathin' sand Breathin' sand Breathin' sand Walk off the earth Oh, forever gone Inhalin' all your mountains Imortalizin' oath The earth I once wandered All wounded and and cold Lemme embrace 'n' warm you Your ashes safe with me Uh-huh-huh So I kept wandering the spheres Until something found me It was a spark Tiny helpless and cold But it guided me And where it landed I dug my fingers into the ground Buried them deep in the soil And all the spirits... They returned In a spiral... In a vortex... It felt like a deep breath As my fingers became the roots of a tree My flesh fueled the earth I felt my spine expand My eyes melting into the astral tide Mother Cosmos opened here arms for me Giving me sight beyond sight Beyond the stars Beyond the beyond And the journey ended In the beginning... of a new one

PRESS TEXT / BIO:
Larman Clamor is throwing a carnival. More of a street fair, really. You’ll find the sky is tinted a greenish yellow watercolor, the air is tepid and wet with humidity, bugs come in swarms, and later, a parade of children on the backs of reptiles will come out of the swamp and march down the crossroad.

Welcome to Alligator Heart.

The third Larman Clamor full-length, Alligator Heart follows on the heels of 2012’s Frogs, 2011’s Altars to Turn Blood and that same year’s debut self-titled EP. It is the most accomplished
release to date from the solo-project of Alexander von Wieding – also illustrator for Karma to Burn,Wo Fat, Monster Magnet, Freedom Hawk, Infernal Overdrive and countless others – and like its predecessors, it masterfully captures a swamp-boogie atmosphere, updating blues and rock traditions with a down-home psychedelia that’s alternately creeping and malevolent and raising its hands in upbeat testimony. Based in Hamburg and begun in 2008, Larman Clamor pays a heavy debt to Delta blues (John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Mississippi Fred MacDowell), but has never sounded so much like itself as on Alligator Heart.

Where Frogs reveled in its post-Tom Waits weirdness and von Wieding’s gravelly vocals, Alligator Heart strips away some of the extras to get at Larman Clamor’s muddy, folkish heart. Short ditties like “Banshee W’Me,” “Done No Good” and “I’m Buildin’ Ruins” stomp and clang as ever, but with surprisingly ripe hooks, and atmospheric pieces like “Sambucus Nigra” and the 16 Horsepower-style banjo echo of “Crow on aWagon Wheel” show a side of Larman Clamor that’s able to make a case as much with minimalism as
with an onslaught of varied elements. Rounding out with “Aether Bound I – Scorched Earth” and “Aether Bound II – Dust & Ghost,” Alligator Heart ultimately shows von Wieding’s most accomplished songwriting to date, and that as he pushes further away from the shore to get swept up in that river’s current, the results are all the more rewarding.

Blending acoustic and electric guitar, simple drums and throaty vocals, Larman Clamor presents an alternate view of tradition and a new take on its own approach. More and more, there’s nothing else that sounds quite like it.

So while you wait on the corner of that crossroad for the parade to go by, just make sure you keep a count of all your fingers. Alligator Heart has a bite with some mean teeth.
